The Regular
Meet Groove
The slowest, mellowest crew member on the payroll (unofficially)
Groove floated up from the gulf one hazy August morning in 1979, planted himself by the community table, and never really left. He judges nothing and no one, except maybe oat milk foam that does not hold a leaf. He believes the two greatest inventions in human history are the reusable mug and the extended lunch break.
- ๐ Watching the sunrise over a slow pour-over
- ๐ถ Vinyl Sundays, always front row
- ๐ Collecting shells nobody asked him to collect
- ๐ง Holding exactly one yoga pose, very slowly
- ๐ข Being right about everything, eventually
“There is no traffic in the slow lane.” ~ Groove
Since 1978, Give or Take a Decade
A Van, a Dream, a Percolator
It started with a converted VW bus, a camp percolator, and a woman everybody just called Mama Groove, parked on the dunes off 30A pouring coffee for anyone walking the beach at sunrise. No one remembers if the shop is named after her or after the turtle who wandered up a year later and refused to leave either one. At this point it hardly matters. Both showed up slow, stayed anyway, and never apologized for the pace.
Fifty-some years, a few different roofs, and one permanent turtle later, the bus is retired out back as a planter box and the coffee is better than it has any right to be for a place that still measures time in "whenever the pour-over is ready."
